Description

Alice Schille (1869-1955) was one of the finest watercolour artists of her time. Born in Columbus, Ohio, she studied art in Paris and New York and was influenced by progressive art movements. Remarkably for a woman in that era she was a world traveller, painting throughout the USA, Europe, North Africa and Latin America. This volume brings together Schille's finest paintings - still lifes, landscapes and gardens, mothers and children, market and harbour scenes - to present a complete overview of a remarkable person's life and work.
