Description

There have been three recent large tsunamis in the Indian Ocean, notably that of 26 December 2004 which killed more than 238,000 people. Few scientists were aware that the Indian Ocean was vulnerable. Tsunami are underrated as major hazards, with evidence for past "mega-tsunami" recently discovered along coastlines not normally considered at risk.
