Description and Table of Contents

Description

This book contains a list of all the vascular plants found in the vast territory of the former USSR extending from the Barents, Baltic and Black Seas to the Pacific Ocean, from the Arctic to the almost subtropical zone in Asia. The list comprises over 22,000 species and subspecies of wild, naturalized and adventive plants relating to 1,945 genera and 216 families. The book also includes hybrid genera, the most widely distributed cultivated plants and 203 species that may be found within the territory, since they occur in neighbouring countries. This book is an enlarged and critically revised edition of the original Russian language edition, Vascular Plants of the USSR, published in 1981. This edition has taken into account the numerous changes in the composition, taxonomy and nomenclature of the vascular plants of the former USSR that have been recognized since 1980.
