Description

Presented here is a view of the American Revolution which differs radically from the prevailing notion that it came about as a result of a high-minded search for principles. Instead, Professor Martin believes that the Revolution was a far more complex affair than the simple defence of liberty against the British and a search for Republican ideals and that the results of the Revolution had even greater long term effects on the development of a national identity than the immediate realisation of independence.
