Description
The ten exquisite miniatures that make up Piano Figures, composed by George Benjamin, were specifically conceived for the hands of young pianists. Most of the short movements do not present big technical challenges, though a few do require a degree of virtuosity. At all times, however, the composer's desire was to state ideas and capture moods in the most direct and econimical way possible.
Piano Figures was commissioned by Philharmonie Luxembourg, and the first performance was given there by Pierre-Laurent Aimard on the 18th May 2006.
