Description and Table of Contents

Description

100 years since her birth, Frida Kahlo is still the most famous Mexican artists. Based on the centenary retrospective exhibition at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, this book showcases reproductions of 64 paintings - which include many of Frida's best known and most acute personal works and are accompanied with brief essays by a wide range of art critics, writers, poets, anthropologists, architects, psychologists, and several other multi-disciplinary specialists from Mexico and worldwide. This multiplicity of approaches and viewpoints unveil new aspects of this iconic painter. The richly illustrated volume also includes drawings, prints, and other documentary material, as well as special text by novelist Carlos Fuentes on Frida Kahlo's place in twentieth century Mexican culture.
