This book contains text by Anna Krogh, Dirk Luckow, Erik Steffensen, Dorte Zbikowski. It includes a foreword by Karsten Ohrt, Dirk Luckow, Karin Hellandsj. This book deals with the free and unconventional Danish artist Per Kirkeby, demonstrating how the human figure holds the key to his work. Kirkeby uses the figure as an organizing, known picture element. For example, he uses the silhouette, the wood log or the crystal as a structural or figurative base to his apparently chaotic canvasses. This publication emphasizes the 1980s but also looks back to the experimental phases of the 1960s and 70s, just as the sculpture began to command a central place in the presentation.
