Topic Starters are part of the Fact Finders series, the non-fiction component of the Oxford Reading Tree. The books introduce non-fiction to pre-readers and very early readers in Nursery and Reception/Year 1 in a simple, accessible form. They can also be used for special needs students. Topic Starters are child-centred discussion books which provide the opportunities to research questions and develop knowledge and information retrieval skills while learning topic vocabulary. Each title links to a title in the Fact Finders ABC series and More ABC series titles: myself, families, clothes, people, houses and homes, schools.
