The catalogue of the Exhibition 'Velazquez's Fables' celebrated the recent enlargement of the Prado Museum. An in-depth exploration of the Seville-born master's facet as a painter of stories, the exhibition brings together 28 works by Velazquez, along with 24 additional works by other artists. This meticulous edition is a descriptive catalogue including illustrations of all the works appearing in the show, accompanied by texts providing historical and creative context. The 52 works in the exhibition depict subjects ranging from biblical history to mythology or the classical world and aim to showcase the level of originality Velazquez achieved in them, his striking technical versatility and the evolution of his art over a career spanning more than four decades.
