Summary: "Qudad, a lime waterproofing material, can be found on religious and secular buildings and archaeological sites all over Yemen. Because of its elaborate and labor-intensive application, in the last 30 years this material has been barely is use. As a consequence, very few masons know how to make and apply it. The conservation team of one of the most important monuments in Yemen, the 16th century ʻAmiriya Madrasa in Rada, chose to revive the practice of mixing and applying qudad since it covers most of the surface of the building. In doing so, they not only used the same techniques as originally used in the construction, but also trained a new generation of masons ... This film portrays the qudad work at the ʻAmiriya as narrated by the workers themselves" -- Videodisc container
