This wonderful catalogue will give you the chance to rediscover the painters and sculptors who were working from the last quarter century of Goya's life right up to the birth of Picasso. This is effectively a historical journey through the works of the great 19th century Spanish masters from Goya through to Sorolla, stopping off on the way at artists such as Fortuny, Rosales and the Madrazos. The works are selected as prime examples to reflect the progression in styles of the 19th century schools: from Neoclassicism and Romanticism to the various directions taken in the second half of the century, such as Historical Painting and Realism.
