内容説明
Emmanuel Levinas was one of the most important and influential European thinkers of the twentieth century. The essays in this volume explore his project of revising the phenomenological picture of the world in light of our experience of other persons.Emmanuel Levinas (1906-1995) was a leading philosopher and Talmudic commentator. He is widely considered to be one of the most important thinkers of the twentieth century. This book brings together fourteen pieces from a large body of uncollected essays. They are united by Levinas' project of revising the phenomenological description of the world in light of our experience of other persons. Appropriatly Levinas pursues this project by discussing the work of others, of philosophers among his contemporaries who bring out and champion a thought that realizes and sustains the proximity of person to person."The Continuum Impacts" are seminal works by the finest minds in contemporary thought, including Adorno, Badiou, Derrida, Heidegger and Deleuze. They are works of such power that they changed the philosophical and cultural landscape when they were first published and continue to resonate today.
They represent landmark texts in the fields of philosophy, popular culture, politics and theology.
