Description

This study analyses all the available data for the early Eneolithic (c.5400-4200 BCE) in the pontic steppe. Primary attention is paid to settlement sites along with burials and grave goods, and the book publishes for the first time in English the settlement materials in full. A chronology is proposed for the Sredniy Stog culture found between the Don and Dneiper, the settlements are placed within their environmental and climatic setting and the complex economy of the Sredniy Stog population elucidated.
