In July 2007, the Government published the Green Paper "The Governance of Britain (Cm. 7170)" (ISBN 0101717024), which outlined proposals for a new and deeper phase of constitutional renewal and included a commitment to complete and publish this Review of Voting Systems."The Governance of Britain - Review of Voting Systems: The Experience of New Voting Systems in the United Kingdom Since 1997 (Cm. 7304)" examines the experience of new voting systems in the United Kingdom since 1997. The Review does not make any recommendations for reform but describes the strengths and weaknesses of different voting systems to inform the continuing debate on electoral reform.Issues discussed include: summary of electoral systems operating in the UK; arguments for and against different voting systems; recent reviews of the UK's voting systems; new voting systems since 1997; assessing the experience of new voting systems since; and, international experience.
