Description

Building on a re-assessment of the major Aurignacian sequences found in central Europe and the Balkans, this book picks up the trail of the earliest anatomically modern humans across Europe. The analysis of the lithic productions from Geissenklosterle in Germany, Willendorf and Krems in Austria and Bacho Kiro in Bulgaria provides the basis for a discussion about the unity and variability of the initial stages of this cultural complex, equated with the beginning of the Upper Palaeolithic.
