Description

The translation of the Hebrew Bible into Greek in the third and second centuries BC gave rise to the Septuagint and enabled the spread of biblical ideas around the educated world. While this work takes the form of a festschrift, it is actually a focused collection of articles by leading biblical scholars on the present state of Septuagint studies. The 16 papers are divided into sections on the Septuagint and the Hebrew text; linguistics and translational aspects of the Septuagint; and the transmission of the Setuagint.
