Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) has had a presence in the Dominican Republic since as early as 1890 and has played a prominent role in its economic development. A new ambitious development goal has now been set that focuses on making the country a regional leader in high-value-added manufacturing and services. In light of this objective, UNCTAD carried out this review. It provides an overview of FDI trends and impact, examines the investment framework and proposes a new one.
