Description

This study aims to give an overview of the visual culture of what is noe the Republic of Macedonia in the Neolithic. It first outlines Neolithic occpuation and the principal sites of the region. The different forms and techniques of Neolithic visual culture are then examined - white painted vessels, painted patterns, ceramic stamps and anthropomorphic ceramics. Iconography is analysed and themes of gender, corporeality, form and function drawn out.
