The significantly larger volume of Volume II compared to the original plan meant that it was published in two volumes. In part volume II / 1 the hermeneutic principles were presented in an introduction under which it is possible to compile the results of historical exegesis in such a way that they can serve as the basis for binding teaching of the Church of all times. Cape. I concretized this as a doctrine of the canon of Holy Scripture under the prerequisite of the genesis of the canons of the Old and New Testaments presented in the final chapter of vol. I / 4. It was also essentially about the relationship between literal-historical textual interpretation and spiritual writing. In chapters II-V, elementary topics of New Testament theology were dealt with in their inner context: the theology of the Old Testament based on God's self-revelation in Ex 34.6f (Chapter II), the unity of theology and Christology in the New Testament (Chapter III), the unity of Christology and Soteriology (Chapter IV) and the importance of pneumatology for the trinitarian context of God's saving action in Christ (Chapter V). Part II / 2, which now follows and concludes the entire work, contains the following chapters: The Gospel and its Messengers (Chapter VI), Baptism as an integral part of Christian life (therein: Justification of the sinner by the grace of God) (Chapter VII), The Eucharistic meal service as the center of life of the Church (Chapter VIII), The essence of the Church (Chapter IX), The salvation-historical horizon of the Church (Chapter X), The meaning of the law for Christians (Chapter XI), The Church's continued existence in the truth of the gospel (therein: apostolate - ecclesiastical offices - church in post-apostolic times) (chap. XII), the Church's abiding in prayer (chap. XIII), creation and the world (chap. XIV), end-time salvation and judgment - the eschatology in the New Testament (Chapter XV), The three-one God (Chapter XVI).
