Description
This title offers a superbly illustrated look at the work of award-winning artist Mona Hatoum, including her latest site-specific work in Venice. Mona Hatoum is a Palestinian artist who came to prominence in the 1990s with a collection of works focused on confrontational themes such as violence and oppression. In 1995 she was shortlisted for the Turner Prize, and in 2000, her work "The Entire World as a Foreign Land" was part of the launch of Tate Britain. In 2008, she was awarded the prestigious Rolf Schock Prize. Filled with superb full-colour illustrations this volume narrates and documents the genesis and evolution of the site-specific project created by Mona Hatoum for the Fondazione Querini Stampalia in Venice. In addition to these new works, including the eponymous "Interior Landscapes", this volume also provides readers with an in-depth and insightful exploration of a number of Hatoum's other recent works in such cities as Venice, Berlin, New York, London, and Amman, as well as interviews with the curators and collaborators she has worked with over the years.
