内容説明

Vietnam has long captured the imagination of travellers, both real and armchair. It is a country filled with captivating natural beauty, tranquil village life and fascinating cities. It is also a feast of history and culture. The richness of Vietnam's culture is evident in the graceful architecture of its historic temples and pagodas, the originality and sophistication of its literature and art, and the innovation of its cuisine. Because Vietnam was under direct Chinese rule for more than a thousand years, the Vietnamese adopted many Chinese traditions, including traditional Chinese styles of building. Much later, French colonial influence created a new design language, most noticeably in the cities. The melding of traditional with modern forms continues today with the renovation of old village houses and colonial villas, and the combination of Western forms of architecture and interior design with local elements. In "Vietnam Style", a varied array of vernacular, Chinese, French colonial and modern Western homes, influenced in both their building styles and interior decoration.
