This guide has been published by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific to draw attention of the local administrations and governments in order to explain generally what the Kyoto Protocol and clean development mechanism scheme consists of, identify the environmental, social and financial benefits associated with the development of a clean development mechanism project from their existing municipal solid waste disposal site and assess whether a disposal site meets the basic technical and economic feasibility criteria.
