This guide has been complied on the basis of the review of family skills training programmes, a meeting and a literature review and focuses on providing basic information and guidance to those policymakers and programme managers interested in launching a family skills training programme at the universal or selective level. It includes an overview of the importance of family environment, basic principles for launching an effective family skills programme, challenges to implement them as well as ways to improve the recruitment and retention rates of parents.
