Description
The present work incorporates analysis and evaluation of the chemical composition of iron objects Historic sites of nagara, Shamalaji, Devnimori and Timberva with a view to understanding the nature of iron in terms of purity and alloying elements. The iron objects revered from these sites were studied with special emphasis on processes of manufacture and methods of fabrication to trace the developmental stages in the production technology with the help of metallographic micro-structural features. The study also aims at the classification of object types from various sites and their distribution. Along with excavated archeological specimens, ethnographic samples were also analyzed.
