This book is an attempt to provide basics of MARC 21 Bibliographic Format to the working professionals in the field of library and information Science. The efforts have been made to cover each and every aspects of MARC 21 Bibliographic Format. The first chapter is Introduction, which gives an overview on MARC 21 and its impact on practical cataloguing of printed as well as electronic and non-book materials. The next Chapter deals with MARC 21 filed-wise examples which helps the LIS professionals as to how to prepare entry easily for each field. This chapter will provide a clear idea about each field of MARC 21. Chapter three deals with the preparation of model MARC 21 bibliographic format along with practical examples. This format is prepared for periodicals. The next chapter is concerned with bibliographic format composite book, this Chapter is very helpful for academic library professionals as well as LIS students of Indian universities, since in academic library systems, most of the books are of composite nature. The fifth chapter presents Committee Reports on MARC21 Bibliographical Format.
Chapter six deals with uniform titles whereas chapter seven is concerned with multi-volume books. The next chapter brings forth the anonymous book while the concluding chapter dwells on pseudonymous book. It is hoped that this title shall prove useful not only for the students of library and Information science, but also for the teaching community as well as the practising librarians.
