This volume contains papers derived from the majority of the invited lectures and a comparable number of contributed papers which provide a good coverage of the main topics discussed during the 11th Macromolecular-Metal Complexes Symposium (MMC-11) held in Tirrenia (Pisa) in Sptember 2005 with IUPAC Sponsorship (Macromolecular Division). The collected papers regard indeed: metal nanoparticles in macromolecular systems for information technology, optoelectronic and energy conversion, polymer supported and embedded metal complexes for catalysis, polyelectrolytes, metal containing membranes, systems for molecular recognition, and nanocomposites. Also environmental applications in heavy metal recovery and biopolymers-metal systems for diagnostics and materials (leather tanning) are described.
