Description and Table of Contents

Description

"Lippincott's Textbook for Long-Term Care Nursing Assistants" is an adaptation of "Carter: Lippincott's Textbook for Nursing Assistants, Second Edition". Whereas "Lippincott's Textbook for Nursing Assistants" was written to prepare nursing assistants to work in any health care setting (hospitals, nursing homes, or home health), "Lippincott's Textbook for Long-Term Care Nursing Assistants" focuses exclusively on preparing nursing assistants to work in the long-term care setting (that is, nursing homes and assisted-living facilities). Because most of the people a nursing assistant is caring for in the long-term care setting will be elderly, this adaptation has a strong gerontology component. The book also strives to help the student to understand the long-term care environment, which is heavily regulated by the government. In addition to all of the features found in "Carter: Lippincott's Textbook for Nursing Assistants", "Lippincott's Textbook for Long-Term Care Nursing Assistants" includes a 'Be Smart About Surveys!' feature (to demystify the survey process for the student by raising the student's awareness of what the surveyor is looking for during a survey) and 'Dementia Care Tips', which highlight special care considerations for residents with dementia. There is a bound-in CD-ROM and a companion Website that include a Spanish-English audio glossary, learning objectives, Listen and Learn, and 29 Watch and Learn video clips.
