内容説明

The most difficult aspect of this exhibition and its catalogue was to find designers capable of transforming paper from a mere material into jewellery, because, as Gio Ponti said in 1957, "beautiful material is the same for everyone. But only a few succeed in creating beauty from a modest material." The exhibition, involving 60 artists from all over the world, in an exceptional venture passes through distant cultures with a single thing in mind: paper. Whether it is folded, embroidered, braided, sewn, sponged, plisseed, punched, recycled, glued or painted with watercolour; paper can be turned into unexpected decorations and forms. Unusual like the origami of Nobuko Murakami, elegant like the plisse of Janna Syvanoja and Daniele Papuli or the ruffs of Dutchman Nel Linssen, flower-like as in the geometric designs of Sandra di Giacinto or material like the textures of Ritsuko Ogura, joyful like the flowers of Ana Hagopian, the collages of Feroci Design or the spectres of the Polish designer Andrzej Szadkowski, or conceptual like the compositions of Fritz Maierhofer. 6 designers (Deep Design, Marco Ferreri, Giulio Iacchetti, Miriam Mirri, Marco Romanelli with Marta Laudani, and Paolo Ulian) have designed 6 paper jewels especially for the exhibition, which are available and "ready to wear". When the exhibition finishes it will set off on an international tour and return to Italy in 2010 to the Fabriano Paper Museum.
