Description

First published over 40 years ago, "Ocean Ships" has become the bible for maritime enthusiasts, providing authoritative and detailed information on all the world's ocean-going passenger and cargo ships. The total number of ships in the last edition (published in 2006) was over 5,000 and such has been the boom in ship building in recent years with the growth in the international cruise business as well as the amount of cargo that needs to be shipped around the world that the total of new ships has grown substantially while many older ships are being scrapped. Ships listed in the new edition range from the greatest names in the cruise business such as Cunard's Queen Mary 2 and the recently launched Queen Victoria, to the multitude of unglamorous workhorses of the seas - tankers, container ships and cargo vessels owned by companies across the globe. The new edition will be fully revised, with entries organized by shipping company with a listing of each ship owned by the company giving details of company colours, national flag, year built, tonnage, dimensions, speed, engines, number of passengers, type and former names, supplemented with a new photographic section of around 200 new photographs.
