Description

Current Studies on the Indus Civilization, is a new publishing project between the Indus Project at the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature and Manohar Publishers. This volume contains four papers; (ie: Dorian Fuller discusses cotton cultivation from a archaeological and linguistic point of view). Qasid Mallah writes on archaeology in Sindh. Roger Blench gives us an overview of the languages in South Asia. Shinde et al. present a report on Ghaggar exploration and the excavation at Mitathal, Girwad and Farmana.

This is the third volume in Current Studies on the Indus Civilization. It contains four papers. Jeewan Singh Kharakwal and others have presented the second seasons report of excavation at Kanmer, Kachchh, Gujarat in the season of 2006-2007. In addition to this main report, P.P. Joglekar and Pankaj Goel have reported on the fauna analysis at Kanmer and Professors Rajaguru and G Deo have contributed a preliminary report on the geological issues in the environment of Kachchh area. Moreover, GIS archaeology is applied to the Kanmer site by Teramura and others. Professor Underhill has given us a paper on DNA analysis of human genetics.

This is the fourth volume of Current Studies on the Indus Civilization. This book contains two papers and focuses on archaeological sites in Haryana. The first paper by Manmohan Kumar presents a list of Early Harappan (241 sites), Mature Harappan (145 sites) and Late Harappan (840 sites) sites in Haryana including newly discovered sites. The second paper is a report on the excavation at Medina, Rohtak, Haryana conducted by Manmohan Kumar and his team in 2007-8. Both the papers are very important for understanding ancient Haryana.

This is the sixth volume of Current Studies on the Indus Civilization. The book contains three papers. In the first paper, Jonathan Mark Kenoyer, one of the most eminent scholars specializing in Harappan archaeology, writes on the terracotta model carts and wheeled vehicles of the Indus civilization. This is followed by a paper by P. Eltsov, which investigates the history of an ancient South Asian city through the analysis of ancient texts and archaeological data. The last paper written by Vivek Dangi, is a preliminary report on his archaeological explorations in the Chautang basin of Haryana.

Description

This book contains papers concerning several animals (ie: crocodile, ass and unicorn) written by the Finnish eminent scholar on Indus script, Professor Asko Parpola and his colleague in Helsinki University, Professor Juha Janhunen who has specialised on the Mongolic, Tugusic and Turkic languages widely spoken in Eurasia. These animals motifs are found not only in the Indus seals but also in the several mythological literatures from Eurasia, including India. Another contributor is Professor Ajithprasad of Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda, Gujarat. His paper deals with issues related to the early Chalcolithic regional tradition of north Gujarat in western India.
