Description
This volume presents and analyses sculpture, inscriptions and monuments relating to the cult of Cybele and Attis from modern Croatia, amounting to more than 120 pieces in total. Nikoloska is able to trace both the geographic spread of the cult and the development of its practice, through close analysis of the symbolism of the motifs which appear on its monuments. She also discusses the relationship between Cybele and Attis, and the differing forms and functions taken in their worship, as well as specific local features of the cult, subject to influences from both west and east.
