Description

This title is the published proceedings of the Biochemical Society meeting held at Imperial College London in December 2002. The meeting brought together international leaders in the field to discuss contemporary advances in protease research and was dedicated to Dr Alan J Barrett to honour his research achievements and contributions to the field of proteolytic enzymes on his 65th birthday. This book aims to provide an overview of contemporary research on the roles of proteolytic enzymes in biological systems. Contributions come from some of the leading scientists in this field and cover areas such as the proteasome and antigen presentation; extracellular and pericellular proteolysis; inflammation and tissue destruction; protease inhibitors and potential for therapy; intracellular proteolysis and apoptosis; and proteolysis and cell migration.
