内容説明

The complex area of employment law directly affects the rights and welfare of every citizen. With a workforce of about 164 million, the EC faces a formidable task in implementing the social measures which have accompanied the foundation of a single economic market. This is guide to EC law on employment, within a social and economic context. This text covers equality case law and legislation. It includes an overview of how the EU works and the development of social policy, culminating in the 1989 Social Charter and the Social Chapter of the Treaty on European Union. The book then examines the free movement of persons, the right of establishment and the freedom to provide services, the law on equal pay, including pensions, and considers in detail the issue of equal treatment. It goes on to assess the working environment and Directives on health and safety, dangerous substances and equipment used at work, working time and workers at risk. Freedom of association, collective bargaining and information and consultation of workers are also considered, as are employment rights on the restructuring of enterprises, including Directives on the transfer of undertakings, collective reduncies and insolvency.
