Description
An estimated 300,000 sports-related concussions occur every year in the United States. Frank Webbe, one of the leaders in the emerging field of sport neuropsychology, presents the first handbook of sport neuropsychology. Webbe approaches the field using a conceptual framework, by presenting basic definitions, ethical considerations, risk factors and mechanisms, and counselling and rehabilitation principles. These considerations integrate research findings from a wide variety of professional and amateur sports (football, hockey, boxing, wrestling, etc.) Concomitant effects of mild and traumatic head injury such as Alzheimer's Disease, Parkinson's Disease, and depression are also discussed at length.
