Description and Table of Contents

Description

The Davis-Bacon Act requires employers to pay workers on federal construction projects at least the "locally prevailing wage". In order to hire and retain workers, employers may pay more than the locally prevailing wage. Issues for Congress include the effects of the Davis-Bacon Act on the cost of construction and on the earnings of construction workers and their families. Additional concerns for Congress include the administration and enforcement of this act. This book describes the Davis-Bacon Act and explains how locally prevailing wages are determined and how they compare to wages on other construction projects and the potential implications of the findings.
