Cairo's celebrities flocked to Studio Van Leo for that glamorous Hollywoodesque portrait that had become the studio's signature during the Second World War. The Studio continued to thrive until the late sixties, glamorizing the new breed of starlets and intellectuals. Van Leo, now in his seventies, is enjoying his own days of glamour with a wave of interest in his work, with exhibitions in Paris, Switzerland, Germany, and the American University in Cairo.
