Description

Japanese ceramics, one of the oldest traditions, is today producing the most varied and exciting ceramics in the world. The Crueger collection is an encyclopaedic representation from over the last three decades of this regional, stylistic and typological wealth, with some 400 examples from approximately 340 different potters and production plants. In addition to classical utensils for the tea ceremony, regional ceramic vessels and industrially produced items for daily use, there are also ceramic art works by internationally acclaimed contemporary studio artists and Japanese state designated 'Living National Treasures'. The ceramics in this inventory catalogue are presented for the first time are breathtaking, showing the range of vessel shapes, glazes, decoration techniques and their high level of execution. A unique compilation that will continue to serve all those who are interested in this subject as a useful reference and handbook for years.
