Description
Nedko Solakov's art breaks the mold in many ways. Working in very different media, using found materials, drawing, painting, scribbling on walls, or videos, Solakov counteracts the principles and rules of order, deliberately including coincidences or accidents in his work. In order to present the full range of his humorous oeuvre, the catalogue All in Order, with Exceptions has taken an unusual tack: each of the four venues has selected one piece from every year included in the body of work created between 1980 to 2010. Yet these exemplary works can only be seen assembled in their entirety in this publication.Nedko Solakov (*1957 in Cherven Briag, Bulgaria), who participated in the 2007 Venice Biennale and the documenta 12, represents one of the crucial stances within European art. This volume is the first to provide a comprehensive overview of his oeuvre. Exhibition schedule: IKON Gallery, Birmingham, September 21-November 13, 2011 | S.M.A.K., Ghent, February 27-June 3, 2012 | Museu Serralves, Porto, July 13-October 21, 2012 | Fondazione Galleria Civica, Trento
