Description
Using graphics, the fundamentals of genetics are explored in detail, including the molecular, cellular and chromosomal basis of genetics and gene expression. The structure, functions and evolution of genes and gene systems are also described. Part two covers important functional areas of particular relevance in the medical field - embryonic development, cellular signal transmission, immune system, oxygen-transmitting gene systems, growth factors, carcinogenic genes and numerous other functions. The book includes 174 colour charts, comprising 100 on basic genetics, 64 on functional areas and 10 on genome organization. There is standard colour coding on charts used throughout. Each page of textual explanation juxtaposed to corresponding chart. This "Flexibook" may be used as a supplementary reference/textbook by all the different professionals and student groups in medicine, biology and dentistry.
