Description

More legislation has been passed on education since 1979 than in any other area of law. This practitioners' guide for those defending the rights of parents and pupils is broken down into three main parts - key areas where legal intervention often arises, remedies, and running an education law case. The book examines the structure of the education system and the main parties involved, and topics such as admissions; pastoral care and health and safety; attendance, discipline and exclusion; special educational needs; nursery education; complaints; judicial review; and educational negligence. Education law often overlaps with criminal, family and housing law, and the authors have written the text with the needs of practitioners in these areas in mind. It includes copies of standard forms and letters, precedents and check-lists, and extracts from key legislation and guidance.
