内容説明
This study examines the visual representations of David watching Bathsheba bathing in French manuscript illuminations from the middle of the fifteenth to the sixteenth century. The author applies contemporary theories of the gaze to this medieval subject to consider the various interpretations of Bathsheba's agency in the event of David's adultery.
