Description
This book provides an overview of current East African country tensions and relations. Discussed in this compilation are the current conditions and crisis in North Uganda and Sudan's civil war where more than two million people have died over the past two decades due to war-related causes and famine. Also reported on is the humanitarian, political and security conditions which have deteriorated across south-central Somalia, wherein 22,000 civilians have been killed. Additionally, the current conditions and challenges for Kenya are highlighted. Kenya has been a valuable U.S. ally since independence, providing the United States with access to its military facilities and political support in the United Nations.
