This impressive volume documents 13 tableaux - large-format works by photographer Jorg Sasse; numerous 'other-based' and 'self-based' photographic sketches are arranged around these. Sasse does not commit himself to only one subject; rather his pictures open up spaces for association; their objectivity is only feigned. Sasse, a student of Bernd and Hilla Becher, composes his images with the help of computers; he also uses photographs taken by others. This book succinctly sketches the artistic development of one of Europe's most important photo artists.
