Description
How does one act in the midst of a revolution? With the key question, "What shall I do?" the author unravels a chain of thoughts in which she questions her role as an observer of/participant in the Arab Spring and the most recent events in Egypt, while taking the reader with her on a personal journey. Writing, documenting the process of decision making, and telling stories are followed by hesitation, self-doubt, and questioning of deeper meaning, because the "revolution does not need writing." Documentary fragments are inserted between conceptual treatises and dreamlike sequences, in a prolonged process of self-reflection. Sarah Rifky is an author and curator living in Cairo; she is Agent for dOCUMENTA (13).
