内容説明
If Roman Signer is best known for his spectacular actions involving explosions, transformations, and demolitions, these represent only one aspect of his oeuvre. Since the 70s, Signer has devoted much of his creative energy to a redefinition of sculpture, incorporating time, acceleration, and change into the sculptural process. His artistic ideas revolve around the relationships between sudden discharges of force and calm, order and chaos, and form in a seemingly formless environment. This catalogue, which accompanies a major solo exhibition at the Sammlung Hauser und Wirth in St. Gallen, provides an in-depth survey of Roman Signer's work as an artist from 1971 to the present. It includes an introduction by Michaela Unterd+rfer and an essay by Gerhard Mack on the aspect of suddenness in Signer's art. The included DVD-ROM documents a performance in which Signer guides a group of Harley-Davidson bikers through the exhibition.
