Description
The fate of children with significant emotional or behavioral disorders has been notoriously difficult to determine due to the faulty recollections of adults and to the problems inherent in following children over a lifetime. This extremely unusual study contains consistent and carefully collected information which has been standardized for almost forty years and which includes histories on patients who attended the same hospital both as children and as adults, as well as on patients who only attended as one or the other. The author compares these groups and considers child/adult links for psychosis, depression, personality disorders, and obsessional disorders, reaching conclusions which challenge currently held views on the classification of psychiatric disorders as a whole.
