Description
The majority of cells exhibit some form of polarization by having an asymmetric distribution of macromolecules within them. Epithelial cells, for example, have distinct apical and basolateral plasma membrane domains which are separated by specialized cell - cell junctions. This asymmetry is essential for cellular function
Table of Contents
Cell polarity and asymmetric cell division: the C. elegans early embryo Phosphoinositide lipids and cell polarity: linking the plasma membrane to the cytocortex The role of secretory and endocytic pathways in the maintenance of cell polarity Continuous endocytic recycling of tight junction proteins: how and why? Crucial polarity regulators in axon specification Cell wars: regulation of cell survival and proliferation by cell competition The control of gene expression and cell proliferation by the epithelial apical junctional complex Apicobasal polarity and cell proliferation during development The Hippo pathway: key interaction and catalytic domains in organ growth control, stem cell self-renewal and tissue regeneration Epithelial cell polarity: what flies can teach us about cancer The Scribble - Dlg - Lgl polarity module in development and cancer: from flies to man
