Description
A volume of studies on the role of culture in development created under the auspices of UNESCO and presented to the European Cultural Foundation. Foundational essays develop the meaning of the terms 'culture' and 'development'; elaborative essays discuss the interaction between the cultural and socio-economic dimensions of society; applications of the concepts are studied in cultural policy; and case-studies of national development are examined in which the living culture of people played a major role.
