Provides course material developed for senior management, SENCOs and governors after the publication of the Code of Practice in 1994. The text looks at the major elements of the Code from a management perspective. It aims to help schools identify priorities so that, working together, they can create an action plan to be incorporated into a long-term school development plan. Managers are encouraged to consider the budgetary and time costs of implementing the Code, and to consider the potential timetabling and staff training issues. The book also places emphasis on managers and headteachers, recognizing the changed nature of the SENCOs' role and the demands that are placed upon them. SENCOs and management teams are given the opportunity to work intensiveley with each other, as well as the opportunity to get differentiation into every scheme of work.
