Description
This title explores the unique sculptural works of Rui Chafes located at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sassi di Matera. This publication is dedicated to a work conceived for the Sassi di Matera (Stones of Matera - a collection of ancient cave dwellings), a reflection on the union between the divine and the earthly, whose title is inspired by the words of Christ from the Gospel according to Saint Matthew: "But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." An important monument for analyzing the oeuvre of Chafes, the intervention places itself outside the traditional canon of sculpture, which takes part in the exhibition venue, thus almost becoming a wandering and restless soul, within an archaic, mythical, and human site, in symbiosis with Man and God.
